Surgical Technologists

Assist in operations, under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. May help set up operating room, prepare and transport patients for surgery, adjust lights and equipment, pass instruments and other supplies to surgeons and surgeons' assistants, hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments.

    Clean and restock the operating room, arranging instruments according to preference cards.

    Scrub and don sterile attire

    Scrub arms and hands, then assist the surgical team in putting on gloves, masks, and surgical clothing.

    Count surgical instruments

    Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after the operation to ensure nothing is left inside the patient.

    Assist during surgery

    Hand instruments and supplies to surgeons, hold retractors, and perform other tasks as directed during the operation.

    Monitor patient conditions

    Observe patients' vital signs and assess the operating room conditions to support the surgical team.
